Getting Back to Business at the 2013 Tourism Summit

TIANS will host the largest tourism association conference in the country from November 24-26th, 2013.

Over 500 delegates will gather at the World Trade and Convention Centre to discuss the opportunities and industry trends in an effort to enhance Nova Scotia’s tourism industry.

“It’s time that we get back to business and make tourism top of mind,” says Scott MacAulay, TIANS Chairman. “Tourism is a 2 billion dollar industry, employing more than 40,000 Nova Scotians and generating over $230 million in tax revenue,” says MacAulay. “With the appropriate focus, tourism could be an even greater economic generator for the province”.

Following three days of captivating keynote speakers, interactive sessions and a business marketplace, the conference will conclude with the Crystal Tourism Awards of Excellence.

“The Tourism Summit brings together industry from all five sectors to look at ways we can work together to help grow the Nova Scotia tourism industry,” says Darlene Grant Fiander, TIANS President. “There are some exciting opportunities and new investments being made in tourism for 2014 - the re-launched ferry service into the United States and the building of the Nova Centre - we need to ensure we leverage these new opportunities and aggressively rebuild our international tourism activity,” says Grant Fiander.

Working with partner associations and stakeholders, TIANS is committed to representing the best interests of the Industry, enhancing and supporting the development of a competitive business environment, advocating on issues critical to the industry's success, and most importantly, leading Nova Scotia's most promising economic sector.
