Atlantic Canada Develops Travel Trade Readiness Program

The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, the four Atlantic Canada provinces, in coordination with the Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick are pleased to inform you that two of Canada’s leading tourism development firms, Bannikin Travel and Tourism and Twenty31 Consulting, have been secured to develop a Travel Trade Readiness Program for the Atlantic Canada industry.

The development of the program will begin immediately, with the goal of enabling tourism industry suppliers to fully understand the business model of the travel trade and assess the opportunity of selling to international markets, such as Europe, Asia and North America.

The Atlantic Canada Provinces & the Consultants, Shannon Guihan and Alexis Kereluk recently hosted a Buyers Breakfast at the Atlantic Canada Showcase where they informed buyers of the upcoming program and received excellent feedback and interest.

Within the next quarter, the consultant team will be reaching out to tourism suppliers, tour operators and receptive tour operators, the four provincial governments, and stakeholder/partners for further program input. It is anticipated a final program will roll-out mid-2017.

As one of the first components to developing this program, we will be sending a survey next week and ask that you please participate in this survey to share your input and insights with regards to travel trade within Atlantic Canada.
